About Us  De Nosotros

The driver behind the creation of Understanding Mining was the well-established need for general education about life cycle of mining. Nina and Steve Hall have been involved in mining education for well over 25 years with international experience in:

Over the period 2011 to 2015, they worked on multiple deliveries of short courses on Mining Regulation and Management funded through the Australian Federal Government for Government officials from across Africa. The challenge was to educate participants, many without prior knowledge and from jurisdictions where mining was just emerging as modern industry. In 2014, these experiences came together when they commenced work on the development of the first ever mining MOOC - the “Business of Mining”. Since then it has attracted over 12,000 students from more than 160 countries
